Wildlife Rescue
Chemical Immobilisation ("darting")
A large part of the wildlife rescue activities we undertake involves Kangaroos having either been hit by cars, or caught in fences. Kangaroos can remain very mobile with injuries that are treatable, but which will become life-threatening over time if not addressed promptly (such as due to infection).
We perform chemical immobilisation of mobile or unapproachable animals, so that further veterinary treatment can be administered.

The KoaLocator App
As part of our wildlife rescue efforts we've developed the KoaLocator app (iPhone only at this stage) to track and record the location of Koala rescues as well as general sighting.
This information can then be used in a variety of ways, including:

-
identify Koala 'hot spots' where awareness signage can be placed.
-
identify home ranges of specific Koalas (where suitable photos and/or audio recordings have been captured).
-
Build a database of known Koalas in specific areas.
